Maintenance tools

Review Trash, app leftovers, empty folders, oversized items, and mounted installer images safely.

Open Trash Cleanup from the main toolbar or menu bar. These tools are separate from ordinary organization rules because they need different safety checks and review flows.

Trash policies

Review retention and size limits before cleaning. Oversized items can be kept for review or marked for immediate cleanup. Destructive choices use red in the interface; confirm the selection before applying it.

App support-file cleanup

App cleanup scans known support locations and groups candidates by application identity. Hoolo prefers bundle identifiers, excludes applications that are still installed, and treats shared group containers conservatively. Low-confidence name matches remain manual review items.

Empty folders

Empty-folder cleanup is manual. Choose a root folder, scan, then select all, invert the selection, rescan, or select individual folders. Confirmed folders are moved to Trash rather than deleted directly.

Some folders that appear empty in Finder still contain hidden files, metadata, or protected contents. Hoolo does not classify those as empty.

Mounted installer images

Enable automatic disk-image ejection to remove mounted installer volumes after they are no longer needed. Only disk-image-backed volumes are candidates; ordinary external drives and network volumes are not treated as installers.

Ejection can fail when an app or Finder window still uses the volume. Close the installer and any open files, then eject again.
